Ever since I was little, I’ve loved telling stories. I believe there is no form so compelling for telling stories as filmmaking, so naturally, I was drawn to pursue the art of capturing stories on the screen. From stop-motion LEGO films to goofy sketches, I enjoy exploring a wide variety of genres and styles. However, all of my work is united by a desire to make the viewer feel something human.
I made this stop-motion animated LEGO film for the final project in one of my animation classes. The custom sets were built over the course of a weekend that I spent back home, and then the animation itself was completed within a 48-hour period. The original idea was originally conceived in a directing class I took where we were given an instrumental song and challenged to come up with a music video pitch set to the song. While I wasn't able to use the original song due to copyright reasons, the rest of the film is pretty close to my original vision.
For the final in my Television Workshop class, we were challenged to make a pilot episode for a television show. Several of my friends and I created a pilot episode for a sketch comedy show called Dead Week. This is one of the sketches we put together for the show. Most of the sketch was improvised, which provided a unique challenge when it came to both shooting and editing.
This project was shot within 48 hours for the 2024 Flatwater Film Festival 48 Four Film Challenge. We were given several requirements. Our film had to be within the horror genre, we had to include the line "Why is that wet?" and we had to incorporate a piece of toast prominently. I was involved with the writing, acting, production design, sound, and editing.
